On January 12, 2021, Gerald Winston Achee of Saint James, Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, passed away peacefully in the arms of his family after a long, brave, and excruciating fight against cancer. Gerry is a father, husband, brother and the heart of the Village Drums of Freedom. His love of life, joyous energy, kindness and ability to be the life of any party will live forever in the hearts of all those that knew and loved him. Gerry’s heart beat to the rhythm of the drums, and music was the passion that soothed his soul. His talent allowed him to travel the world in the most colorful fashion, making friends at every port.

Gerry was a generous man who gave to anyone and everyone, living by the spirit of “come with a good spirit and I will treat you well." To know  Gerry was to feel accepted and loved as a member of his family, and, of course, there was no greater pride in his life than his 16-year-old son Luca. Gerry gives much respect to his late mother Lucille Achee and oldest sister Beatrice. He is also survived by his wife Vittoria, his son
Luca and his siblings Joey, Julie
, David, Lyndon, Florabelle and Julien.

A viewing will be held at Temple Memorial Chapel on Sunday January 17th from 2pm – 5pm, 445 Monmouth Street in Jersey City. Gerry’s Celebration of Life will also be live streamed on David Achee’s Facebook Page from 5pm – 6pm, please join us from the comfort of your home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Gerald Achee Memorial Fund at https://www.gofundme.com/f/gerry-achee-memorial-fund
